Kia Carens Clavis Launched Today: While the Clavis shares most of its powertrains with the standard Carens, it adds a new 6-speed manual option for the 160 bhp turbo-petrol engine.

Inside, the Clavis remains similar in layout to the Carens.

Kia has taken the wraps off its latest premium MPV, the Carens Clavis.

Having said that, bookings open from 12:01am on 9 May, both online and at dealerships across India.

Design

The Carens Clavis adopts Kia’s modern design language, including the ‘digital tiger face’ grille seen on the EV9. It features sleek LED daytime running lights, triangular LED headlamp housings, and chunkier front and rear bumpers with silver skid plates.

While its silhouette remains the same as the current Carens, the Clavis gets fresh 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a thicker LED light bar at the rear, adding to its upmarket look.

Features

Inside, the Clavis remains similar in layout to the Carens. However, it now features lighter upholstery and updated door trims for a more premium feel.

The most notable upgrade is the 22.62-inch connected dual-screen display, consisting of a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen – borrowed from the Kia Seltos. The cabin also gets new AC vents, updated auto climate controls, and a flat-bottom steering wheel from the Syros.

Mr. Gwanggu Lee, MD and CEO of Kia India, said,”We recognize the evolving needs of our customers, and with the Carens Clavis, we’re offering more than just a vehicle, it’s a thoughtfully crafted experience that enhances everyday mobility.”

The top-spec HTX+ trim comes loaded with a range of premium features designed for comfort, convenience, and safety. It includes a 4-way powered driver’s seat and ventilated front seats to enhance comfort during long drives. Entertainment is taken care of with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, while a panoramic sunroof adds a touch of luxury.

For connectivity, it offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with connected car features that include remote functions. Safety and ease of driving are enhanced with a 360-degree camera and a Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, front collision assist, lane keep assist, and more.

Powertrain Options

The Clavis will be available with six engine-gearbox combinations, including a new option not available on the standard Carens. Engine options include:

  • 1.5L Petrol (115 bhp) with 6-speed manual
  • 1.5L Turbo Petrol (160 bhp) with 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT, and a new 6-speed manual
  • 1.5L Diesel (116 bhp) with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

Trims and Seating Configurations

Buyers can choose from seven trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, and HTX+. It’s also available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations, just like the Carens.

Price and Rivals

While prices haven’t been revealed yet, the Carens Clavis is expected to cost slightly more than the standard Carens (Rs 10.60–19.70 lakh, ex-showroom). This positions it above Maruti’s Ertiga and XL6, and below Toyota’s Innova Crysta and Hycross
