The electric segment in the auto industry has been receiving an overwhelming response from customers, not just in India, but globally. Top carmakers are already in the race to add new products to their portfolio to attract new customers. The same has been done by the leading car maker Hyundai.

After taking the market by storm with the futuristic EV Ioniq 5, the company has expanded its fleet by adding an electric version of the Creta. It has been launched in the country within a price range of Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 24.38 lakh (ex-showroom).

Introduction

A lot of things already have been revealed or shared across the digital platform, but if you are reading this article, we feel you must be searching for more about the car. Well, do not worry; we have your back. The team News18 Auto has already experienced the car and sat behind the steering wheels a few days back. We managed to drive it somewhere around 150 km, forming an opinion about the same.

Before judging the car directly, it is worth knowing what Creta EV is all about, and what it brings to the table. Here’s a list of the top pointers that put the Creta EV in the company’s top lineup and help it dominate the segment.

Battery and Range

First thing first, the battery setup. The Creta EV is available in two battery packs – 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The brand claims that the former offers an ARAI range of 390 km, while the latter provides an impressive 473 km on a single charge. Well, the claim is somewhat justified, as the car offers good efficiency in multiple modes. The customers can expect the real-world range between 340 km to 450 km respectively.

It supports both AC and DC charging options connected to the 11 kW AC charger, it takes around 4 hours to fully charge, while on the 50 kW DC fast charger, it reaches 10-80% in an hour.

Power and Performance

In the 51.4 kWh long-range version, the company claims that the model generates a maximum power of 169 bhp, and is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds. When it comes to lower spec, it churns out a sweet 133 bhp and offers the same acceleration as mentioned above.

Again! the claim is checked by us as it managed to score an extra point for its honesty. However, we feel the punch is not as impressive as the ICE version. It takes a few microseconds to respond once the gear is engaged.

Cabin

The company surely did some experiments inside the cabin to make it stand out. The steering wheel is different compared to the ICE version, flaunting no logos on it, but fortunately maintaining elegance and premiumness.

It has been given dual curvilinear screens, featuring a fully digital cluster and a 10.25″ HD infotainment display. The unit supports all wireless car connectivity technologies, including Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Auto CarPlayAndroid, Apple and Auto CarPlay. The unit offers a futuristic cockpit experience, putting important EV-specific data right at your fingertips.

The cabin is complimented by the robust Bose sound system with a complimentary JioSaavn subscription. Apart from this, Hyundai Bluelink connectivity keeps you linked to your vehicle at all times, offering over 70 connected features that uplift your driving experience for sure.

Some Notable Features

To make it more simple and convenient for all the customers, the company has added In-car Payments. It means the driver does not have to download multiple charging applications. They simply can pay directly using the infotainment screen with the touch of a few options.

The system has access to over 1,150 charging points across the country, ensuring you have a seamless driving experience on every mile. It also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) features. It allows you to use your vehicle as a power bank or portable power source to supply power to other electronic devices such as microwaves, toasters, juicers, laptops and whatnot.

Comfort

Here comes the most important part. It only makes sense to invest a big amount in any car if it offers good comfort to all the occupants during long journeys. Well, the five-seater e-SUV checks all the boxes, all thanks to impressive legroom, knee room and headroom. A driver somewhere around 6ft can easily cover long distances without touching his head on the roof.

At the same time, people with more than 6ft might face slight difficulties doing ingress and egress. As far as the space for luggage is concerned, the Creta EV comes with an appealing space of 422 litres. It also can be enhanced by folding the rear seats.

Here’s What We Feel

The introduction of Creta EV shows the company’s commitment towards sustainable mobility. From style and road presence to performance and comfort, the EV can be considered a blend of everything and offers a good range with great power figures.

If you are planning to purchase an ev and have a budget of Rs 18 lakh to 25 lakh, then the Hyundai Creta EV surely deserves a spot on the priority list.
