Android users could soon have the Apple TV running on their phones

Apple has offered the TV service across its platforms and select smart TVs running on Android but soon phones could also be part of the list.

Apple is reportedly developing the Apple TV app for Android smartphone users. The platform has been exclusive to Apple platforms, while some smart TVs let you use the app. This new development marks a significant step for the tech giant, which has always kept its services exclusively for its own users.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is currently hiring engineers for the development of software for the Apple TV app on Android. The rumours started spreading after Apple posted a job listing for the role of Android Software Engineer- Apple TV App.

The job description reads, “The Apple TV app team is looking for a proactive, hardworking and experienced senior android engineer to lead the development of fun new features, and to help build an application used by millions to watch and discover TV and sports.

Apple is yet to officially announce the development of the Apple TV app for Android users. The Apple TV App serves as a hub for entertaining content, including Apple TV+ exclusive shows, movies and documentaries. It stands as a healthy competitor to other streaming giants like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime.

In India, a one-month subscription for Apple TV+ will cost you around Rs 99. Also, the company offers a special 7-day trial period for its subscribers to test its services. For the new buyers of Apple devices like an iPhone, iPad or Mac, the tech giant gives a three-month Apple TV+ subscription for free.

Also, Apple TV+ allows users to share their subscription with up to five family members. At present, the Apple TV+ is available on Amazon Fire Stick, PlayStation, Xbox, XInfinity, Google TV, Samsung Smart TV, LG Smart TV, Roku and more. Users can also watch the exclusive Apple TV+ content on the desktop site at tv.apple.com/in.

Earlier in 2015, Apple launched its Music App exclusively for Ios users, but it was made available on Android later in the same year.
