A major change is now affecting thousands of commuters travelling between Noida and Delhi.
From 5 May 2025, the Noida Police have partially shut down the Mahamaya Flyover for two months to carry out urgent structural repairs and upgrades, as per TOI.
The flyover, a key route linking Noida and Delhi, will remain open only for light vehicles, while heavy and commercial vehicles are being diverted to alternate routes.
Why the Ban?
Authorities say the move is necessary to:
- Improve road safety
- Carry out structural maintenance
- Ease growing traffic congestion in the area
The decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and ensure smoother travel between the two cities.
Diversion Routes in Place
To reduce inconvenience for daily travellers, diversion routes have been announced:
- From Noida to Delhi: Use the Sector 37 underpass, then follow MP-03 Road and DSC Road.
- From Delhi to Noida: Take the same return route via Sector 37 underpass, MP-03 Road, and DSC Road.
These routes are aimed at easing traffic pressure on the flyover and balancing vehicle flow across the network.
Expect Delays – Plan Ahead
Commuters are urged to allow extra time for travel as peak-hour congestion is likely on the diversion roads. Authorities advise:
- Leaving early during rush hours
- Staying alert to updated traffic advisories
- Following signs and instructions at all times
To manage the situation and ensure public safety, the police have increased patrolling and surveillance around the flyover. Additionally:
- Temporary traffic signals and signs will be placed to help guide drivers.
- Pedestrian safety has been prioritised with marked crossings and safety barriers.
While the restrictions may cause temporary inconvenience, the long-term benefits of improved road conditions and smoother traffic are expected to be worth the wait.
