Divya Dutta, who is busy promoting Tahira Kashyap’s directorial debut film ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti’, shared her insights on how the industry functions in light of Ranvir Shorey‘s recent remarks that he signed up for ‘Bigg Boss’ since he is out of work. According to Divya Dutta, the main reason why a talented actor can find themselves without work prospects is because the industry has moved on to a new “flavour of the season.”
Ranvir Shorey, one of the contestants on the Anil Kapoor-hosted season 3 of ‘Bigg Boss OTT’.During the show, while introducing himself to fellow contestant Shivani Kumari, Ranvir said, “I am an actor. I did my first film in 1999. If I had work, why would I be here today?”
In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Divya Dutta was questioned why veteran actor Ranvir, who starred in a number of critically acclaimed films in the mid-2000s, including ‘Mithya’, ‘Bheja Fry’, and ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’, remained unemployed. “Here we have a lot of flavours of the season. It is like if you keep a diamond here, then everyone will want that and then in the next five-six films you will see the same actor. Then, their attention will shift, and they will look at the next diamond. So, it is rotating, but my case was different, I have been consistent maybe because I divide my work,” Divya shared.
The actor further added, “I am sure he refuses a lot of work, too, because he is such a fabulous actor. It can’t be like he is not getting work, especially with OTT coming in. But an actor also has that will, where they feel they don’t want to do certain roles. Maybe he is going through that phase.”
When Divya was asked to describe Ranvir as a person, Divya Dutta said, “He is a fun person. We did Manto together and Aaja Nachle as well. He is absolutely fabulous!”
On the work front, Ranvir was last seen in Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3’.
