It has been more than five months to the release of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar. The film recently completed 25 weeks at the box office, and is all set to release in China soon. For his gut wrenching performance as a simple village boy, Vikrant has been winning awards galore. The actor recently revealed that it was in fact, director of films like 3 Idiots and Munnabhai series Rajkumar Hirani who had recommended him to Chopra for the role.
Talking about it in an exclusive interview with ETimes, Vikrant said, “It was because of Raju Sir that I got a film. A lot of it is because of him, he was generous to recommend my name and then Vinod sir met me.”
Adding more he stated, “Raju sir has been very kind to me every since I started doing films; he has seen most of my work. I’ve worked with some of his assistants who are now directors themselves. He happened to see me on sets, and at that time, when Vinod sir and Raju sir got talking about making this film, he recommended for the project.”
He carried on, “I thank Raju Sir every time I meet him .. I met him a few days ago, and I thanked him again. He is someone who gets very shy when someone praises him,” Vikrant added.
It is being reported that now, Vikrant and Rajkumar Hirani are teaming up together for a web show, which the latter is producing, and one of his assistants would be making his directorial debut with the show.
