Sole-searching for US President Joe Biden, who has recently taken the tumble a handful of times, might have ended with a new pair of “lifestyle sneakers”.
However, Biden’s recent footwear choice has reignited discussions concerning his well-being and physical abilities, amid speculation that his shoes were strategically chosen to prevent falls.
Biden not only stumbled while climbing stairs, he even dropped to his knees while on stage during the 2023 Air Force Academy commencement.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) Research posted about President Biden’s new shoes.
“Biden’s handlers are forcing him to wear a new pair of “lifestyle sneakers” because he trips so much,” RNC Research posted on X.
The RNC Research X handle is managed by the Republican National Committee. Its bio says the handle’s aim is to “exposing lies, hypocrisy, and failed far-left policies of Joe Biden and the Democrat Party”.
People likened the Democratic leader’s new shoes to heavy objects such as “boat anchors” and “piers”, reported Fox News.
However, a detailed report from ‘Inside Edition’ attached to the tweet revealed that these shoes are actually ‘Hoka’ brand lifestyle sneakers, specifically “designed for maximum comfort and support while walking or hiking”.
THE ‘HOKA TRANSPORT’ SHOES
Joe Biden’s specific shoe is called the “Hoka Transport,” the report said. These shoes are recognised for their wide soles.
Despite Biden’s history of stumbling, the report notes that these shoes provide comfort and support. The report described that the shoe is “quite comfortable” and feels like “walking on air.”
Gabrelle Laurenti, a podiatrist consulted for the report, shed light on Biden’s recent physical examination, which disclosed his struggle with sensory peripheral neuropathy in his feet, a condition associated with nerve damage.
“The shoe bears the seal of approval from the American Podiatric Association for being beneficial to foot health,” the report said, noting Biden’s physical last month revealed that the president suffers from sensory peripheral neuropathy in his feet.
Despite efforts to prevent falls, such as installing shorter stairs and assigning a Secret Service agent to aid him when getting off planes, Biden’s physical mishaps remain under scrutiny.
