Samsung’s smart ring will be available later this year and come in different sizes

Samsung has entered the smart ring market but the product will be launching later this year and will have different size options.

Samsung has counted for its presence at the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) in a big way. The South Korean giant has entered the smart ring segment, and as expected, it’s called the Galaxy Ring. We have seen a few brands enter the ring market, notably, Noise and Boat in India. But Samsung’s entry means the segment is getting a serious outlook, and we’ll know later this year, when the Galaxy Ring will be made available in multiple countries.

It is hardly surprising to see Samsung say the Ring will mostly focus on health features for which it will have a new app called My Vitality Score. This app will not only track your health activities and offer tips to people if they have to improve something.

Samsung is extending the Ring to work with the Galaxy Watch which is rather interesting because both the devices should be serving the same purpose. Having said that, people might finally have the freedom to sleep without wearing a watch, now that there is a Ring to do the health tracking for them.

The other notable part about the Galaxy Ring is that Samsung is keeping it compatible with Samsung Galaxy phones for the time being, and we don’t even know when other Android phones or even iPhones will get support for the smart ring. Coming to the more important stuff on the product, Samsung hasn’t shared any possible price tag for the device which we’ll know when it launches, most likely with the new Galaxy Z Fold lineup.

We also don’t know how long the smart ring will last for its miniature form factor but we’re hoping it is at least a week, if not more. Thankfully, Samsung will have different sizes of the Galaxy Ring, so that people can try it out before buying one.
