WWE Raw featured Week 2 of Raw Underground as Shayna Baszler, Arturo Ruas and Riddick Moss made their debuts. Bayley took on Asuka for the right to face Sasha Banks at SummerSlam, and Randy Orton faced Kevin Owens in a somewhat similar stipulation match to earn a shot at the WWE Championship. Raw also featured more nefarious acts of vandalism from new stable RETRIBUTION.
Raw’s was book-ended by one of its best opening and closing segments of the year as Seth Rollins brutally beat Dominik Mysterio with a kendo stick. The two will face off at SummerSlam in two weeks.
In Raw’s closing segment, Randy Orton turned on Ric Flair, giving him a low-blow and punting him (with the lights off).
Last week’s broadcast of WWE Raw was up for the return of Shane McMahon and the debut of Raw underground with 1.715 million viewers.

Opening Segment Featuring Seth Rollins and Dominik Mysterio
It took Dominik Mysterio’s surprisingly potent ability as a babyface, but boy Seth Rollins is coming into his own as a heel.
Samoa Joe’s rep has been as a legit tough guy for his whole career so it has to be tough for him to be in the role of contract-signing host, especially in this feud.
There’s no match I’m looking forward to at SummerSlam more than this one.
I wonder how many of the released WWE Superstars were seething watching Rey Mysterio’s son sign a WWE contract during a pandemic.
Seth Rollins def. Humberto Carrillo
Humberto Carrillo being called down to NXT wouldn’t be the worst idea given his current place in the Raw pecking order.
The ever-changing discussion of Pandemic MVP needs to start including Dominik Mysterio, if nothing else, because of the kendo stick beating he endured tonight.
Angelo Dawkins def. Andrade
I wonder if “Who Poisoned Montez?” will become a summer whodunnit storyline similar to “Who Attacked Enzo?”
When Angelo Dawkins walked to the ring alone against Andrade, flanked by two heels, I would have never guessed in a million years he was going to win this match.
Bianca Belair def. Zelina Vega
Zelina Vega has been wrestling so infrequently I was shocked to hear that she actually had a match. I thought she was just cosplaying as Nikki Bella.
Bianca Belair threw Zelina Vega around with the ease of Mark Henry throwing a pillow.
Shelton Benjamin def. Apollo Crews
The more MVP talks about a conspiracy against his group, the more paranoid I’ll get about a possible Nation of Domination reboot.
I feel like Apollo Crews cutting the best promo of his career is becoming a weekly trend.
Shelton Benjamin can still serve a lot of purposes in 2020. Beating an up-and-coming star like Apollo Crews ain’t one of em.
At one point when The Hurt Business was ganging up on Apollo Crews, MVP said—and I quote—”don’t hurt him!”
The Viking Raiders, Cedric Alexander and Ricochet def. Akira Tozawa and the Ninjas
Erik may want to consider adopting a Raw Underground nickname to avoid the confusion/embarrassment by association.
I wonder what will happen first, R-Truth winning 50 24/7 Championships or Raw Underground getting cancelled?
Liv Morgan vs. Peyton Royce
Riddick Moss def. Cal Bloom; Dabba Kato vs. Local Competitor—WWE Raw Underground
Shane McMahon actually listed the 247 Championship among the accolades of amateur shooter Riddick Moss.
Raw Underground is just a revolving door of guys with big bodies whom Vince “has high hopes for,” which means nothing in today’s WWE.
Asuka def. Bayley
Bayley was out here arguably having a better match with Asuka than any of Sasha’s matches against Asuka in the past month, which is extremely high praise.
One could argue that Bayley is being a good friend by losing to Asuka and ensuring Sasha Banks gets her SummerSlam payoff.
Arturo Ruas def. Local Competitor—WWE Raw Underground
I liked the way Shane McMahon says “Arturo Huas” so much, it makes me want to see Shane as his manager.
The most alternative aspect of Raw Underground is the fact that these athletes are allowed to compete in jeans.
Shayna Baszler Cleans House—WWE Raw Underground
Tom Phillips said “Shayna Baszler appears to be built for Raw Underground,” in what was easily the biggest understatement of his young career.
Raw Underground should be built around Shayna Baszler and Dabba Kato as legit monsters. Just about everything else should be played like a joke if this thing wants a chance at connecting.
Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens
Boy, this was a very good pro wrestling match on what has turned out to be a very good show.
After enjoying a world championship reign years ago, somewhere along the line, Kevin Owens became a resident gatekeeper and has not budged since.
I got so nervous for Ric Flair as Randy Orton aggressively told him to “stay put.”
