Prep Boys Tennis Roundup: St. Cloud Tech bests Willmar


ST. CLOUD — The Willmar boys tennis team fell to 1-6 after being swept by St. Cloud Tech on Monday.

David Thaden had the strongest showing for the Cardinals, falling at No. 3 singles to Ben Eiynck, 6-2, 6-1.

Willmar heads to Bemidji for a triangular on Tuesday with Thief River Falls and the host Lumberjacks.

Yellow Medicine East won the top two singles spots during a non-conference loss to Worthington at Granite Falls.

In the No. 1 singles match, the Sting’s Ean Clarke defeated Alec Langerud, 6-1, 6-1. Then in the No. 2 match, Tyler Syring bounced back from a second-set loss to win his match with the Trojans’ Ian Barber, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

YME (4-4) heads to Madison to play Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley on Tuesday.
