Jadon Sancho to Manchester United: Transfer would be ‘money well spent’ says former Red

It is the transfer saga that looks set to be rumble on into the autumn months.

Jadon Sancho and Borussia Dortmund have proven firm in their stance surrounding the 20-year-old’s future so far in this transfer window.

The Bundesliga side had set a deadline of August 10 for Manchester United to confirm a move for the England international but United sources believed that date to be ‘meaningless’ and ‘artificial’.

However, there remains a degree of silence from United’s part on when they will make their next move to Sancho.

He has so far taken to business as usual during pre-season preparations in Switzerland and doesn’t look close to forcing a move through in this transfer window.

For United, they may have to be shrewd in how they operate in the market before it closes on October 5 and interest in Sancho certainly applies to that train of thought.

Here is the latest speculation on Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

Hargreaves believes Sancho would be ‘money well spent’

Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes that spending big money on Sancho this summer would be worth it over time.

Hargreaves played in both the Premier League and Bundesliga during his time as a player despite multiple injuries.

However, he believes that a proposed move to United is due to financial reasons with Dortmund remaining firm on their valuation.

He told talkSPORT : “I hope he comes over here. He would be perfect for United.

“I don’t think they (Dortmund) have much of an argument because they’ve pretty much sold everyone, whether it’s been (Robert) Lewandowski, (Mats) Hummels, (Mario) Gotze or (Ousmane) Dembele. Everyone has pretty much left there.

“We know they are a selling club and it’s obviously about money.

“In Jadon, as much as we are in a difficult space right now with everything going in the world, it will be money well spent.

“You just have to get the deal done.”

United players ‘excited’ about Sancho deal

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s players are reportedly excited about the possibility of Sancho joining the club before next season.

Despite both clubs remaining locked in negotiations about a potential move, the Athletic report that the United dressing room is excited about the possibility.

Sancho himself is yet to indicate that he wants to force a move to Old Trafford in this transfer window. However, reported excitement from within the dressing room could be a good sign of how his arrival would be greeted by the players.

The England international has previous experience of playing with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire on international duty which may boost any chances of a move happening.

Dortmund players ‘convinced’ that Sancho will stay

Sancho’s current teammates are believed to be increasingly convinced that he will remain at the club for the upcoming season.

According to the Telegraph, cited by the Daily Mail , Lucien Favre has been using Sancho as part of a front three in training alongside Erling Haaland and Thorgan Hazard.

While the other two boast great quality in attack, Sancho is arguably the most important part of the attack after scoring 17 goals and assisting a further 16 last season.

Several senior first team players including Mats Hummels, Emre Can and Roman Burki have all spoken publicly how they are pleased that Sancho is staying put this summer.
