Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Shreyas Iyer ahead of his team’s clash against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday, said that working on his temperament has helped him a lot in improving his consistency.

Young Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Shreyas is all pumped up ahead of team’s first match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Sunday and is hoping for a great run in the IPL 2020.
Iyer, while talking to India Today’s Consulting Editor (Sports) Boria Majumdar, said that he was very excited after getting the news of IPL 2020 being shited and held in UAE. The 25-year-old said the 6-day quarantine was tough but he could luckily continue training, courtesy his 24 kg dumbbells and enough space in the hotel room.
“We didn’t know what was coming ahead. It as really excited when we came to know that IPL was being held in UAE. The cases here are less, we are in a bubble, the practice and everything is going on well and I am looking forward to the competition.
“I was going to my friends gym in Mumbai. I have got a lot of space in my room and I have my 24 KG dumbbell in my room and that helped me to workout. Returning to field was best feeling of my life. I had to see if I was in touch. I felt like I was in a super touch in the very first session. I never felt like I was awat from cricketm,” Shreyas Iyer told in an exclusive interview to India Today.
When asked if his good run in international cricket helps him in a tournament like IPL, Iyer nodded in agreement, adding that it gives the player the much-needed self belief. The styslish right-hand batsman said that he worked hard on his fitness, diet and temperament to grow and mature as a player.
“The performance which you carry from international cricket gives you self belief and empowers you to play important role in team when you come to IPL. I have been working a lot on my temperament and that has helped me in being consistent. have worked on my fitness and diet. You need to pay attention on these small aspects. I think these things have helped me grow and mature as a player in term’s of my decision making.”
Shreyas Iyer has the big responsibility of leading a DC team, which has an amazing mixture of youth and experience. Iyer, along with DC players and coach Ricky Ponting would look to win the first IPL title for the franchise.
