H&M in West Des Moines coming soon to Jordan Creek

Des Moines metro shoppers are finally about to have one of their top wishes granted: An H&M store will open in about a month at Jordan Creek Town Center.

The multi-level, 25,000-square-foot location of the so called “fast-fashion” apparel and decor store should be open to customers by mid-June, mall general manager Randy Tennison confirmed to the Register.

It’s one of what Tenison said will be a series of changes at the mall.

“There are a lot of exciting things coming,” he said, noting construction is set to being this summer of the mall’s planned Von Maur department store in the space left vacant when Younkers liquidated in 2018.

H&M will occupy several storefronts on two levels at the western end of the mall near the former Younkers. While Tennison said he was “confident” there would be a mid-June opening of H&M, he was hesitant to announce any grand-opening plans.

The company did not return an email seeking comment.

A long time coming for H&M in Des Moines metro

Des Moines has had a long wait for H&M. The Sweden-based global chain marked its 20th year in the U.S. in 2020 and has hundreds of stores across the nation, including a location in Davenport and another that opened in Coralville last month.

If online reaction to the Des Moines Register’s October announcement of the planned store at Jordan Creek is any indication, it will quickly become a popular destination for customers who want bottom-dollar deals on clothes by top designers.
