What would you wear …

… on a first date? On my first date with my husband, I wore baggy jeans, sneakers, a printed shirt and a headband I knitted myself.

… on a plane? Something super comfy, like an oversized cotton dress.

… to the Oscars? Something I would design myself. My favourite Oscars outfit was the pink Ralph Lauren dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore in 1999; it was classic and very simple.

Do you remember a favourite outfit you wore as a child? My soccer kit.

What’s your favourite fashion era? The ’90s – my teenage years. I grew up in a small fishing town and MTV was my window to the world. I got a lot of inspiration from Britpop, bands like Blur. Fashion was more relaxed after the make-up, puffy sleeves and high heels of the ’80s; mixing vintage flower dresses with tracksuits was fun.

Who are your favourite fashion designers? Prada and Raf Simons. I’m excited to see what they do together.

Can you remember your first fashion moment? Fashion has always been a big part of expressing myself. When I was in kindergarten, my mother would make me wear these striped spencers from OshKosh. I remember hiding under my bed until my mother promised me that I didn’t have to wear them again.

And your worst fashion mistake? I was in love with this skater boy and tried to impress him by giving myself an undercut haircut. It was awful. My mum cried when she saw me.

What are three essential items in your wardrobe? A great dress, big sunglasses – I like Celine – and sneakers.

What would you buy if money were no object? Madonna’s outfit from the Blond Ambition tour in 1990.

Is there something you’d never wear? I have learnt that I should never say never. I swore I would never wear clogs and now I have a pair at home.

Is there a current trend you like? I don’t follow trends. They are a little bit old-fashioned and outdated.

What shoes do you wear the most? I ride my bike to work every day, so sneakers. A mix of Converse, Ganni, Nike and Adidas.

Do you have a style muse? I don’t. I am inspired by people I see on the streets.

What’s a typical workday outfit? I am very much a mood dresser. One day it might be a big flowery dress; the other, baggy jeans and a T-shirt.

And your favourite look for a casual Sunday? Ganni’s new soft-wear collection – sweatshirts and sweatpants in recycled cotton. It’s dropping in October and I’m super excited about it.
