Kenya Airways will also benefit from this partnership, with the airline placing its ‘KQ’ code on Air India’s flights between Delhi and Nairobi, allowing African passengers to connect to India via Nairobi.

Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Kenya Airways’ twice-daily flights between Nairobi and Mumbai.

Air India, India’s leading global airline, has teamed up with Kenya Airways, a top African carrier, in a new codeshare partnership.

This collaboration aims to enhance seamless travel between India, Africa, and beyond, building on their existing interline agreement.

Thanks to this partnership, passengers of both airlines can now travel more easily across a wider range of destinations with just one ticket, enjoying a unified baggage policy.

Under the agreement, Air India will place its ‘AI’ code on Kenya Airways’ twice-daily flights between Nairobi and Mumbai. This will allow passengers to connect seamlessly to Air India flights to destinations like Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Malé, Melbourne, and Singapore. Additionally, passengers can easily travel from Nairobi to several points in India via Delhi.

Kenya Airways will also add its ‘KQ’ code to Air India flights between Delhi and Nairobi, enabling African passengers to travel to Delhi through Nairobi.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, said, “Our codeshare partnership will provide significant benefit to guests of both airlines, and also contribute to the overall growth of air travel between India and Africa.”

Through their interline agreement, the airlines also offer easy connections between 28 African cities, like Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Addis Ababa, and 15 cities in India, including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, expressed excitement over the deal, saying, “This codeshare agreement allows us to offer seamless connections to a wider range of destinations across both airlines’ networks, making travel easier and more convenient.”

The two airlines plan to expand the codeshare to include more destinations in the future. Bookings can be made through both airlines’ websites, travel agents, or booking channels.
