Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital to invest Rs 800 crore to build 300 bed cancer centre in Bandra

Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre said it will be investing Rs 800 crore on the proposed 300 bed state-of-the-art cancer hospital in the upscale Bandra, Mumbai.

The proposed cancer hospital will be around 3,50,000 square feet and will be located close to the existing Lilavati Hospital in Bandra, said Prashant Mehta, permanent trustee of the Lilavati Hospital.

Mehta said the land for the proposed hospital has been identified, and will be allotted by the Maharashtra government at a subsidised price.

He added that the funding for the cancer hospital will be through donations and through bank debt.

“There are huge donations coming because everybody knows cancer is the need of the hour, everyone wants to participate and do something good for the country, for the city of Mumbai,” Mehta said.


Mehta said they want to do the groundbreaking for the hospital in the next few months, and commence the operations in two years.Mehta said the cancer centre will use cutting edge technology, and offer advanced treatments, in addition to providing exceptional patient care, the facility will create numerous job opportunities for healthcare professionals, researchers, and support staff.”This significant investment in the community will boost the local economy and contribute to the overall development of the healthcare sector in Mumbai”

Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust Board operates the 319-bed hospital in Mumbai.
