ICOTY 2025: MG Windsor Crowned Green Car of the Year, Deets Inside

Last year 2024, Comet EV was awarded as a Smart Electric Vehicle and successfully received the runner-up award in the same category.

Ever since JSW MG motor released its first Intelligent CUV named Windsor in India, the model created a buzz on the internet. Now, the EV has been awarded as Green Car of the Year 2025 by the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) Awards.

According to the details, the model has been rated on the basis of top factors that include styling, comfort, performance, safety, practicality and features. This is not the first time the company has topped the chart in the EV category. Last year 2024, Comet EV was awarded as a Smart Electric Vehicle and successfully received the runner-up award in the same category.

Reacting about the achievement, Rajeev Chaba, CEO Emeritus, JSW MG Motor India said, “The MG Windsor is the right product at the right time with the right pricing and packaging. It is certainly a disruptor in the segment, redefining consumer perceptions about EVs and these factors have helped MG Windsor to emerge as the Green Car of the Year at the coveted ICOTY 2025.”

In addition, he said, ” The strong sales momentum since its launch, highlights the evolving preference of consumers. The MG Windsor ticks all the boxes of their consideration sets, especially the value for money it delivers. The MG Windsor is all the more special to us because it has been successful in debunking myths around the higher acquisition cost of EVs through path-breaking initiatives such as Battery-As-A-Service and lifetime battery warranty.”

Meanwhile, MG Windsor comes at the starting price of Rs 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV has been listed under Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program. It means customers can pay only for the car, while the battery cost is not included as it comes under a monthly subscription basis at Rs 3.5 per km.
