Karl Lagerfeld Jeans will debut an unexpected new collaboration this Thursday with Atelier Reservé, the Amsterdam-based indie brand noted for creating fashion from repurposed materials and carefully sourced deadstock fabrics.

The result is a cunning collab’ that blends raw fabrics and gothic proportions, fusing Atelier Reservé’s one-of-a-kind aesthetic with Karl Lagerfeld Jeans’ urban edge. Each piece granting a second life to fabrics that could otherwise be destined for landfills.

“Karl was always open to new ideas – he embraced challenges, broke the rules, and collaborated with unexpected partners which resulted in phenomenal creations,” stressed Hun Kim, creative director of Karl Lagerfeld.

“This season, we’re excited to partner with Atelier Reservé, a young, innovative and talented duo that’s based in
Amsterdam and focused on sustainability. Together, we’ve created a fantastic collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld Jeans,” added Kun.

The Karl Lagerfeld Jeans X Atelier Reservé collection becomes available from November 14 at the Karl Lagerfeld Jeans store in Madrid, along with the brand’s online store and exclusively via Zalando.

The capsule features 14 styles made with bespoke craftsmanship, blending vintage and modern elements for a distinct result. Designed to be genderless, it features a utility jacket and pants, baggy denim, a hoodie and t-shirts, plus a women’s denim bustier and denim skirt. While accessories include a beanie, a canvas tote, a cap, a hobo bag and a laptop case.

“This capsule collection takes a bold and nonconforming route, inspired by our interpretation of the iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld Jeans,” said Alljan Moehamad and Deyrinio Fraenk, co-founders of Atelier Reservé.

“Collaborating with Karl Lagerfeld Jeans has been a pleasure, as their commitment to innovation and dedication aligns perfectly with our own values,” added the duo, who launched Atelier Reservé in 2016 in Amsterdam.

Though founded by a Hamburg, Germany-born designer who lived in Paris for some six decades, the house of Karl Lagerfeld is also based in Amsterdam, making the partnership even more natural.

Some pieces include an original artwork featuring a portrait of Karl Lagerfeld, under the tagline ‘Lové Karl’. Symbolizing the collaboration and the mutual admiration between the two brands, accented with a unique nod to the Reservé aesthetic.

The collaboration also taps into the Karl Cares strategy, an ongoing journey across all areas of the Karl Lagerfeld and Karl Lagerfeld Jeans businesses. Defined by actionable objectives, the strategy exemplifies how the brands approach and track their corporate social responsibility across three core pillars: the People they work with, the Planet they take resources from, and the Partners they collaborate with.
