The section from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension is almost ready and is expected to open by August 2024.

Delhi Metro is speeding ahead with its Phase 4 project, completing over 50 percent of the work on its three main corridors: Majlis Park–Maujpur, Aerocity–Tughlakabad (Golden Line), and Janakpuri West–RK Ashram Marg (Magenta Line).

According to The Indian Express, “More than 50 percent of the work is done on all three lines. The Majlis Park–Maujpur section is 80 percent complete. Tunneling is ongoing for the Aerocity–Tughlakabad and Janakpuri West–RK Ashram Marg lines,” said Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

The Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension section is nearly finished and expected to open by August 2024. The Majlis Park–Maujpur corridor is also likely to open next year. DMRC aims to complete all three priority corridors, adding 65 km of new tracks by 2026.

Although Phase 4 construction started in December 2019, it faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issues with tree-cutting permissions from 2020 to 2022. Despite these challenges, Delhi Metro has been working hard to stay on track for the 2026 deadline.

Officials said daily monitoring and high-level site visits are helping to speed up the work. Tree-cutting permissions and land acquisitions are being actively pursued to ensure smooth progress.

In addition to the current corridors, two more lines, Inderlok–Indraprastha and Saket G Block–Lajpat Nagar, have recently received approval. DMRC is now working on obtaining necessary clearances and planning the next steps for these new projects.
