In some cases some previously nominated shows did not come back in time on digital platforms due to writers and actors strikes over the past year in order to be available, claim reports. These included the likes of Netflix’s Stranger Things, Squid Game and Bodyguard; HBO/Max’s Euphoria, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us and more, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Disney+’s Andor and The Mandalorian was also one of the leading contenders, alongside Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale; Apple TV+’s Severance; Amazon’s The Boys, but sadly, not anymore.
Shōgun being expanded to a drama series for an Emmy award?
This may be the primary reason why FX announced on May 16 that it is expanding Shōgun, one of the year’s most outstanding shows, from a limited series to a drama series, says Hollywood Reporter. According to reports, at least two more seasons are in the works, with the notable Hiroyuki Sanada, confirmed to return for the respective seasons.
Shōgun, being one of the most watched show FX has ever produced, on the basis of streaming hours globally, it can be expected that it will bag at least an award at Emmy.
