Béatrice Dalle, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Rossy de Palma are among those joining the Andam (Association nationale pour le développement des arts de la mode) jury this year, coming mainly from the world of cinema. They were chosen by the creative director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello, patron of this 35th edition of the competition for young fashion designers and president of the jury. The designer selected thirteen guest members, who will join the permanent jury of 22 members representing the main sponsors of the Andam prize.
No fewer than six of the thirteen invited members are from the film industry. In addition to the three actresses already mentioned, they include actress Virginie Efira, actor Niels Schneider and director Gaspar Noé. It’s also a way of underlining the Kering group’s links with the 7th art, since last year it created the production company Saint Laurent Productions and worked with Gaspar Noé on the medium-length film Lux Æterna, starring the house’s muses Béatrice Dalle and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
The jury for the competition, founded in 1989 by Nathalie Dufour, its managing director, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Le Défi, this year also includes singer and composer Carla Bruni, former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt, writer Virginie Despentes, journalist Augustin Trapenard, singer Rosé from the South Korean group Blackpink, and models Anja Rubik and Alek Wek.
Andam launched its applications and 35th anniversary celebrations in January. This year, as in 2023, the competition has a total prize fund of 700,000 euros. The list of finalists will be unveiled at the end of May.
The winners of the competition will be chosen by the jury on 27 June 2024. Five prizes will be awarded: The Andam Grand Prize (300,000 euros), the Special Grand Prize (100,000 euros), the Pierre Bergé Prize (100,000 euros), the Fashion Accessories Prize (100,000 euros) and the Innovation Prize (100,000 euros), which is due to be unveiled in the next few days.
