After over a decade of delays, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is all set to finish the long-pending master road between sectors 88 and 89.
This key stretch will act as another important link between the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-8) and Pataudi Road, as per TOI.
The 60-metre-wide road, once complete, will significantly boost connectivity across sectors 82 to 89, providing easier access to Sultanpur Lake and reducing traffic stress in the area.
Why Was It Delayed?
The 60-metre-wide road had remained half-constructed for over a decade due to a land dispute. A private manufacturing unit stood in the middle of the planned route, leading to legal battles and delays. The matter even reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, which asked both parties to find a peaceful solution. This led to a long-standing stalemate.
Construction Work to Begin Soon
The deadlock was broken recently when Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) handed over a 350-metre land parcel to GMDA—crucial for completing the project. GMDA has now begun the initial steps like tree surveys and checking which utilities, such as electric poles, need to be moved.
An estimated Rs 3 crore has been allocated for the remaining work. Tenders will be issued soon, and actual construction will begin once contracts are awarded.
Another “Missing Link” Nears Completion
This is not the only step forward for Gurgaon’s road network. Last month, GMDA also began work on a 200-metre stretch near Bestech Ananda in Sector 81. This move ended yet another long-standing deadlock and brought hope for better traffic flow between Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway and Pataudi Road.
With key blocks finally falling into place, Gurgaon’s expanding sectors may soon breathe easier.
