Apple has introduced Liquid Glass, its most dramatic design revamp since the launch of iOS 7. The company claims the update is meant to make the user experience feel “more expressive and delightful.” The redesign has sparked a wave of memes online.
Users on X (formerly Twitter) couldn’t help but poke fun at a YouTube video thumbnail about the update, where the play button’s placement accidentally made the title look like it said “Liquid A**” instead of “Liquid Glass.” The amusing glitch quickly went viral.
“Very unfortunate play button,” joked a user on X while posting a screenshot that highlighted the awkward positioning of YouTube’s red play/pause icon.

Highlighting the same mishap, another user commented, “It’s absolutely wild that Apple’s social media intern didn’t proofread the Liquid Glass YouTube thumbnail on all devices.”
As more social media users began catching on to the blunder and sharing their reactions, Apple eventually updated the thumbnail to fix the issue and prevent further confusion or jokes.
Apple’s ‘Liquid Glass’ UI Update
Just hours after unveiling its latest software at WWDC 2025 in California, Apple rolled out the iOS 26 developer beta update. The company has created a new design interface language called Liquid Glass that functions similarly to glass in the real world. Its colour changes automatically between light and dark surroundings based on the material around it.
It is now available for developers to test and fine-tune their apps ahead of its official release later this year.
Given that it is still in its testing phase, there may be glitches, and the program itself may feel shaky, particularly in the early iterations. Installing the beta software is not recommended for users who use the device daily.
According to Apple’s announcement, the new UI feature covers even the smallest components that users interact with, such as text, buttons, switches, sliders, tab bars, and sidebars for app navigation. The new design works on iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26 for now.
