Microsoft chief has been sharing his advice and views about AI becoming a worry for jobs as the industry evolves with the new trends.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was sharing useful advice in this podcast
Microsoft and other tech companies are gradually pivoting to AI which has become a worry for newbie college pass outs who are not sure about their future in the industry. However, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella has a word of advice for these techies who are being told not to worry about AI but embrace its presence to upskill your expertise.
Nadella is part of a paradigm shift in the AI era but is quick to point out that the ‘basic fundamentals’ will never go out of fashion, and people coming through today should always keep that in mind.
The Microsoft chief was speaking in a podcast recently where he shared his views and offered suggestions for someone starting out in the competitive tech field.
AI Threat Real But Not Everywhere
Nadella was asked about the worries around AI taking away jobs, which has become clearer in the last few months. He mentioned that while AI is getting better with coding, it is still there to assist people who need to apply their logic and structure to make the final product tick.
He also said that instead of engineers, soon we will have an army of software architects who build the path for the AI to do the heavy work and let the humans focus on other important tasks. “All of us are going to be more software architects,” he was quoted saying.
Microsoft was allegedly using its workforce to train its AI systems and make them smarter, which eventually allowed the company to layoff those exact employees as per reports. What Nadella is trying to emphasise with these statements is that AI is going to be around for a long time, even if this is just that start.
The company is seeing 20 to 30 percent of the coding handled by AI which puts question marks over the need and purpose of the workforce. But citing one of his own instances, Nadella said that the tech is there to assist and execute the actions, while the humans create the roadmap for the product to reach that stage.
As most AI experts have said, there is no point cribbing over AI and its overarching reach in the industry, and simply adopt the technology to get smarter and more frugal with the work systems.
