Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh recently spoke about a kind gesture by Salman Khan. He said that Salman offered to show the teaser of his debut film Jimmy in theatres before his own movie Partner was screened.
Salman Treated Him Like a Brother
He told Digital Commentary that Salman has always been supportive of him, treating him like a big brother. He mentioned that Salman, who shares a good bond with his father Mithun Chakraborty, suggested adding the teaser of Mimoh’s debut film Jimmy to the theatrical release of Partner. Mimoh also revealed that the film’s title was given by Sohail Khan.A Disappointing Debut
Even though Jimmy’s teaser was shown with Partner, the film didn’t do well at the box office, which left Mimoh feeling depressed.
A Day on the Sets of Sultan
Mimoh shared that he went to watch Partner with his entire family. The theatre was packed, and when the teaser for Jimmy played, there was silence for a few seconds—then claps, whistles, and cheers. He felt like a star at 24. But when Jimmy released, everything changed. The phone stopped ringing, cheques bounced, and within hours, his dreams came crashing down. He felt his life was over and didn’t step out of his house for a year.
Mimoh Chakraborty shared that Salman Khan once invited him to the sets of Sultan to lift his spirits. He said Salman called his mother and asked her to send Mimoh over. Describing Salman’s presence as larger-than-life, Mimoh said he spent the day with him. At one point, Salman pointed at him and told an assistant director, “You’re struggling with your work, but look at him—he doesn’t even have the chance to struggle.” Those words stuck with Mimoh. Salman encouraged him to stay strong, promising that an opportunity would come and that he’d support him. Mimoh also remembered Abhishek Bachchan telling him not to let others’ opinions bring him down and to always remember who he is.
After making his debut with Jimmy, Mimoh went on to appear in films like Haunted – 3D, Loot, Rocky, and others, but none turned out to be box office hits. Most recently, he was seen in the web series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.
