OnePlus Watch 3 is official but the new premium smartwatch is unlikely to visit our shores anytime soon.
The company is bearing more bad news for people in India this week.
OnePlus Watch 3 made its debut in the US market this week and surprisingly there was no announcement for India, one of the biggest markets for the brand. The new OnePlus premium smartwatch has been widely tipped to be available in the region but a new update from the company suggests otherwise.
We already know the OnePlus Open 2 foldable is not launching in India or any other country this year and the company seems to be the bearer of more bad news for people in India this week.
OnePlus Watch 3 India Launch Plans: What We Know
OnePlus Watch 3 is now official but the company doesn’t seem too keen to launch the new smartwatch in India. “We are dedicated to providing our India community with the best of our OnePlus technology. While the OnePlus Watch 3 isn’t launching in India at this time, we are carefully assessing the market to ensure we deliver the most impactful and relevant products for the region,” OnePlus said in a statement.
The recent decisions made by OnePlus in the Indian market suggests it is having second thoughts about focusing on the premium lineup in the country.
The Open 2 launch price would have been around Rs 1.50 lakh which is not a very popular segment in the region. Similarly, the Watch 3 is priced around Rs 30,000 which takes it to the Apple Watch territory and no brand manages to compete out there.
So, are we surprised that OnePlus is not bringing these two products to the country, not really. Would we have liked the brand to launch them either way, yes, definitely but these big calls could have come via Oppo to the brand which does make business sense for them. Having said that, we are hoping OnePlus does not give up on its premium strategy in India, and bring more products to appeal to the buyers.
