Couture brand Rimple and Harpreet has collaborated with fashion disruptor Uorfi to launch a new campaign set in Old Delhi. The project explores the fine distinction between couture and costume and celebrates India’s textile and design heritage.

Rimple and Harpreet’s take on couture, in collaboration with Uorfi – Rimple and Harpreet

“Costumes are high-end garments designed for a specific reason- be it for a character or a period piece,” said Rimple Narulah in a press release. “Couture, on the other hand, is fashion at its most extravagant and artistic. With this shoot, I wanted to bring the two together in a way that felt both theatrical and luxurious.”

Shot by Kanu Palliwal at Kathika Haveli, Imlu Mohalla, the campaign mixes the label’s archival pieces with garments from more recent collections with a regal aesthetic. Key pieces in the campaign include a seven coloured ‘Satrangi Leheria Lehenga’ which was originally crafted for Rajasthani royalty and the jewel toned colour palette highlights the collection’s glittering zardozi work. Designed to frame couture in a new light, the campaign also draws upon the design duo’s work for the Indian film industry.

“Rimple and Harpreet are true icons, and I’m thrilled to be working with them- who wouldn’t be,” said Uorfi. “Costumes and designing have played a huge role in shaping my journey, so this shoot felt deeply personal- like a full-circle moment. It was also incredible and organic the way they approached me for this! It’s not every day you get to wear Rimple and Harpreet and this is some of the finest embroidery and Indian couture I’ve ever seen – I’m honoured to be a part of this.”
