Xiaomi’s next flip smartphone could get a big hardware boost but some intriguing changes to the camera could play spoilsport.
Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up for the release of its new foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, which will serve as the successor to the Mix Flip launched in July 2024. Ahead of its official unveiling, multiple leaks hint at key upgrades, especially in the CPU and camera features.
As mentioned by tipster Digital Chat Station, the Mix Flip 2 could feature a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED inner display with a 1.5K resolution. As for the cover screen, it is expected to come with a 4.01-inch 1.5K flexible AMOLED panel.
Xiaomi is likely to power the device with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which promises faster processing speeds and better overall efficiency for the device.
On the optics front, the device is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup but with some changes. The upcoming model is said to offer a 50MP primary sensor with a 1/1.5-inch sensor and a 50MP 1/2.76-inch ultra-wide angle lens. This means the telephoto lens would be replaced by an Ultra-Wide angle sensor in the Mix Flip 2.
Additionally, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is also expected to arrive with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor (presumably situated on the power button) and NFC functionality. Also, it is said to come with an IPX8 rating for splash and water resistance.
The Mix Flip 2 is said to support wireless charging, unlike its predecessor. The Mix Flip 2 launch price remain unclear. However, its predecessor was first unveiled in China at CNY 6,499 (Rs 77,600 approx) for the single 12GB+512GB variant. The foldable segment is hot in China and Xiaomi will definitely focus on its home market with the new foldables and eventually take it global but most likely skip the Indian market, where its lineup ends with the Ultra model.
