Smartphones have become such an integral part of our lives that it is almost impossible to imagine daily life without them. However, like all electronic devices, they require proper maintenance, including timely charging.
While keeping your phone charged is essential, are you doing it the right way? Many of us unknowingly make charging mistakes that can impact battery life and device performance. For instance, many leave their phone charging overnight which impact the battery life.
Modern smartphones primarily use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Although these batteries are highly advanced and efficient, they come with certain limitations.
For example, if you use your phone until it switches off completely before charging, it can negatively affect both the battery and the overall performance of the device.
Additionally, leaving your phone connected to the charger for hours after it reaches 100 per cent can gradually reduce its battery capacity. This can also lead to overheating, increasing the risk of the phone exploding, and can ultimately affect the phone’s performance.
It’s advisable not to leave your phone plugged in longer than necessary. Always unplug it once it is fully charged. While many phones now feature systems that stop charging automatically when the battery is full, according to RTÉ, these systems may not always be as reliable as manually unplugging the device.
