WhatsApp Status updates have got multiple features and music will be another useful addition like how it works on Instagram.
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new significant update that will soon allow users to add music to their status updates, similar to how it works on Instagram. The details come via WaBetaInfo this week, who says this feature is currently being tested with select beta users for Android and iOS versions and is expected to roll out soon.
As per the reports, WhatsApp may soon feature a new Music button on its Status update section for Android and iOS users. It will appear next to the drawing, text and other editing options, allowing users to search for songs or artists and select the songs of their choice.
After selecting a song, WhatsApp users can select which piece of the track to use. The music clip in photo-based status updates can run up to 15 seconds, similar to Instagram. In video status, the duration of the music clip is according to the length of the video.
Notably, the viewers of the status update will also be able to interact with the Instagram page of the artist, whose music is used in the picture or video. As a result, it is projected to boost the discovery and contact with musical artists via WhatsApp.
Adding music to the WhatsApp Status updates is meant to boost viewer engagement and make the update more dynamic. Reportedly, the details about the integrated song will appear alongside the shared photo or video, similar to how they do on Instagram.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp recently introduced new features to increase user interaction and app usage time. The latest upgrades include new camera effects, selfie stickers, sticker pack sharing and faster reaction options.
The social media platform mentioned in its blog post, “We are always working on making WhatsApp more fun and easier to use, so we’re excited to kick off the new year with new features and design updates to improve your experience.”
