Microsoft is saying goodbye to one of the popular brand names in its lineup that millions recognise for its features. We are talking about the iconic Office lineup which is now rebranded to the Copilot moniker as the company plans for the AI future in the market.

Microsoft already had changed to Office 365 earlier but using Copilot as the new brand name seems rather confusing and most likely people will have mixed feelings about this change.
All In For AI
Microsoft is heavily invested in the AI future and its early investment in OpenAI was just the start of this scenario. Bringing Copilot into the catalogue has largely been linked to its AI efforts and it seems moving from Office to Copilot (even with a new logo) also shows where the popular Microsoft products might be moving to in the foreseeable future. The report says the new brand is already making itself present on Windows 11 albeit to a select group for now.
The company has clearly talked about the reasons for making the rebranding, which was decided and announced back in 2023 through a detailed event. Microsoft even claimed bringing Copilot across its products is part of a whole new way to work.
AI is the future, and most tech companies have made it clear with their recent launches and upgrades. Windows 11 is heavily AI-based, and it even needs an NPU to pull through these AI features on-device. So, Office going Copilot is hardly surprising, especially if the products like Office and Excel will be getting an AI boost, and bringing them under the Copilot umbrella helps Microsoft have a clear AI identity in the market and make it easier for the consumers to know about its plans.
