Filmmaker Nikhil Advani recently shared that his experience working with Govinda on the 2007 film Salaam-E-Ishq was positive. Unlike the stories of his tardiness in the 1990s, Govinda, who was attempting a comeback, was on his “best behavior” during the shoot.
In an interview with Mashable India, Nikhil shared his experience working with Govinda, Irrfan Khan, and Akshaye Khanna on Salaam-E-Ishq. He described how Govinda, eager to prove himself after a low phase in his career, was collaborative and full of creative ideas. Advani also mentioned that Irrfan praised Govinda’s performance.
Producer Vashu Bhagnani shared a contrasting experience with Govinda during Hero No. 1. He recalled how the entire unit of 75 people waited for three days in Switzerland due to Govinda’s delayed arrival. Once he arrived, Govinda completed much of the work in a single day.
Shakti Kapoor shared how Govinda’s punctuality has improved over the years. He recalled that, in the past, Govinda would arrive at 9 PM for a 9 AM shift, but now he arrives earlier, at 8:30 AM. Kapoor attributed this change to insecurity, which he believes has made Govinda more professional, a transformation recognized across the industry.
Govinda recently teased his comeback in big projects after a six-year break, though details remain scarce. He previously attempted a return with films like Partner, which was successful, and Salaam-E-Ishq, which underperformed at the box office. Since then, his films have not made a major impact.
