While the people are devastated with the wildfire which has destroyed thousands of homes and killed 24 people in the Los Angeles, an emotional video will melt thousands of hearts.
A touching video showing an emotional reunion between a California resident and his cherished dog has went viral. In the video, Casey Colvin was spotted at his neighbour’s gate, gently calling out to his dog, saying “Hi booboo, how’s the fire?” as the gray dog runs down the hill toward him.
The reunion was intensely emotional, with Colvin embracing his dog whilst crying and screaming. He proceeded to run down the street celebrating, before collapsing at the gate, exclaiming “Oh thank you Jesus, oh thank you God.”
Oreo, the dog, had been missing since the Pacific Palisades fire began. When evacuation orders were issued, Colvin was at his workplace. He spent five hours navigating through traffic, attempting to return home to rescue his dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.
“I literally rescued them off the streets, they deserve better than this,” Colvin said to reporter Liz Kreutz of NBC, visibly distressed and pulling at his hair. “How do I get to my house?”
A firefighter who witnessed the situation offered assistance and managed to rescue Tika Tika Tika. However, Oreo had escaped and disappeared. Hours later, Colvin’s residence was destroyed, joining over 12,300 other structures across Los Angeles County that were consumed by the fires.
After days of searching and posting missing dog notices, with assistance from a dog tracker, Oreo was finally located on Sunday. The dog was discovered resting amongst the ruins of a neighbouring property.
