Air India, India’s leading global airline, has started flying its flagship A350-900 aircraft non-stop between Delhi and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

This comes shortly after launching A350 flights on the Delhi-New York (JFK) route on 1st November 2024.

With this move, Air India now connects Delhi to all major New York airports using its state-of-the-art A350 planes. These flights offer brand-new interiors, including private suites in Business Class, a Premium Economy cabin, a new Inflight Entertainment (IFE) system, enhanced catering, and fresh serviceware.

To celebrate the launch, Air India’s cabin crew recreated iconic New York City scenes, drawing inspiration from famous Hollywood and Bollywood films. Dressed in Manish Malhotra-designed uniforms, they explored the city with excitement, showcasing the “new Air India experience.”

  • Lunch Atop a Skyscraper: The crew paid homage to the famous 1932 photograph by posing atop Rockefeller Plaza, celebrating innovation and adventure.
  • Central Park’s Gapstow Bridge: Known for its lush beauty and film appearances, the bridge is where memorable scenes from Home Alone 2 and The Devil Wears Prada were shot.
  • The MET Steps: The crew also posed on the grand staircase, a famous backdrop in shows like Gossip Girl and movies like Ocean’s 8 and When Harry Met Sally.
  • Times Square: Strolling through the bustling streets, the crew enjoyed the vibrant lights, which have appeared in numerous Bollywood and Hollywood films, from Vanilla Sky to Kal Ho Naa Ho.
  • New York Yellow Cabs: The iconic yellow New York taxis, a symbol of city life, also featured in their journey, much like in countless movies.
  • The Pierre Hotel: The crew paid homage to Scent of a Woman, recreating the famous tango scene.
  • Queensboro Bridge: Inspired by the film Manhattan, the crew recreated a famous scene beneath the bridge, where characters admire the city at dawn.
