Mushtaq Khan, a well-known actor, was recently kidnapped in a disturbing incident that also involved a plot to abduct veteran actor Shakti Kapoor. This alarming trend of targeting celebrities has raised serious concerns about safety in the industry. The Uttar Pradesh police are actively investigating these incidents to uncover the full extent of the criminal activities involved, reports filmibeat.
Mushtaq Khan, known for his role in the film ‘Gadar 2’, became a victim of a kidnapping scheme that had also included Shakti Kapoor as a target. The investigation revealed that both Khan and comedian Sunil Pal had reported their abduction experiences to the police, shedding light on a broader criminal conspiracy. The police inquiry was initiated after Khan and Pal were allegedly lured to Delhi under the pretense of attending a special event.
According to Bijnor Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha, the criminals behind Khan’s kidnapping had planned to abduct Shakti Kapoor by inviting him to an event with a promise of Rs. 5 lakhs. They had even arranged flight tickets and made an advance payment for Khan. However, the plan to kidnap Kapoor fell apart when he requested a higher advance payment. This sequence of events has prompted authorities to investigate whether this gang has previously targeted other prominent figures in the entertainment industry.
Khan’s harrowing experience began when he arrived in New Delhi, where he was forcibly taken to an undisclosed location. This scenario was eerily similar to what was planned for Shakti Kapoor, highlighting the gang’s boldness in targeting well-known personalities. Fortunately, Khan managed to escape after the kidnappers consumed too much alcohol and fell asleep. With help from locals, he contacted his family and safely returned to Mumbai.
The details of Khan’s ordeal were shared by Superintendent Jha, who explained that he was held captive in the home of a criminal named Lavi. During his captivity, the kidnappers obtained Khan’s bank account details and password. On November 21, they withdrew Rs. 2.2 lakhs from his account for shopping trips in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar. After enduring 12 hours of captivity, Khan’s brave escape led to the arrest of several gang members and the recovery of Rs. 1.04 lakhs by the police.
The attempted abduction of Shakti Kapoor adds another layer to this troubling trend of celebrity targeting. The police have confirmed that they are investigating potential connections between this gang and other celebrity abductions.
