Fine jewellery brand Jaipur Gems’ Charitable Trust celebrated classical music at its event titled ‘Ugam Music Evening.’ The concert was held at the Nehru Centre as the business celebrates its 50th anniversary.
“The 20th Ugam Music Evening was a celebration of classical music, talent and tradition, reflecting the commitment of the Jaipur Gems Charitable Trust to preserve and promote the art form,” said Jaipur Gems’ founder Padam Sacheti in a press release. “With the support of patrons, performers and music lovers alike, the trust continues to make significant strides in fostering the growth of Indian classical music.”
Jaipur Gems’ Padam Sacheti established the Jaipur Gems Charitable Trust in 2005 Sacheti in memory of his father Inderchandji Sacheti and with the aim of promoting and preserving Indian classical music through its ‘Ugam’ and ‘Udaan’ initiatives. Ugam gives people access to free performances by leading classical musicians and celebrates artists with the Pandit Shivkumar Sharma Samman Award to honour their achievements. This edition, scholarships were also presented to four emerging artists to help them to continue their studies.
“Ugam 2024 by Jaipur Gems Charitable Trust proved to be a resounding success once again, maintaining its streak of excellence year after year,” announced Jaipur Gems in a press release. “It once again surpassed expectations and solidified its reputation as one of the most anticipated Hindustani classical music events of the year.”
