The pricey iPad Pro M4 model isn’t selling too well but why?
Apple launched the new M4 iPad Pro with a renewed focus on the premium segment for the Pros but the price tag and one big change might have worked against it
Apple launched the iPad Pro with the new M4 processor which surprised many. The new iPad Pro model is slimmer than its predecessors and lighter than the Air model too. But all these changes bumped up the price tag of the iPad Pro M4 model which seems to have caught up with the early demand and excitement for the new device.
Apple has been increasing the prices of its products steadily over the years, but the new iPad Pro M4 hike seems to have caught up with the brand and the markets seem to be showing the mirror to these trends.
iPad Pro M4 Sale Falls But Why?
The details about the falling demand for the pricey M4 iPad Pro model comes via display analyst Ross Young from DSCC who claims the early promise of the new product has slowed down. The report also mentions that Apple was earlier expecting to ship around 10 million panels for the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models but now those numbers could be close to 7 million which is not a good sign for the company.
The new iPad Pros were shown as the shiny new toys in Apple’s catalogue, so what caused this muted demand for the new iPads? Well, you could definitely lay the blame on the price tag of the M4 iPad Pro models, as many would have preferred to spend big on an M4 MacBook rather than splurge on an iPad.
The iPad Air Conundrum
More importantly, Apple gave the iPad Air model a lot of important upgrades, including the powerful M2 processor under the hood. That’s not all, Apple also introduced its first-ever 13-inch iPad Air model which might have killed any possible need to spend big on the iPad Pro M4 when you get an equally capable iPad for a lower price but with a bigger display now.
The iPad Pro M4 11-inch model starts at Rs 99,900 while the 13-inch model costs Rs 1,29,900 in India. At the same time, the 13-inch iPad Air model starts from Rs 79,900 which is Rs 50,000 less than what you pay for a slim and powerful M4 processor.
Apple positions the Pro moniker towards the professionals but the gap between the Pro and the Air iPads this year has narrowed down, and people may be gradually realising this point.
