Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has been entertaining the audience for more than three decades in the film industry, is renowned for his sharp sense of humour, endearing appearance, and articulated thoughts. King Khan’s admirers are likewise drawn to him because of his regard for women of all ages. Recently, author Chetan Bhagat revealed that Shah Rukh Khan offered a chair to his mother on the sets of ‘Om Shanti Om’ when no one else thought of it.
During the conversation at India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit 2024, Chetan Bhagat recounted a time when he visited the sets of ‘Om Shanti Om’ with his ageing mother. Chetan reflected on his early years and said he wasn’t popular back then.
The author shared, “My mother was there. She wanted to see the shooting. I took her and she was standing there. The shot got over and he (Shah Rukh Khan) saw that my mother is older, he went, and nobody on the set thought of it and he picked up a chair for my mother. So how can I not like that level of person?”
At the event, Chetan was asked to choose the Indian film industry actor he most admires. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan were among the choices given to him. Recalling that he is a “little biased” towards the superstar because the writer has spent the most time with him, Chetan heaped accolades on Shah Rukh Khan. The ‘2 States’ author shared that while all of them are talented actors, King Khan is also “good as a human being”.
Chetan Bhagat, who hasn’t collaborated with the superstar yet, mentioned seeing Shah Rukh Khan at his mansion Mannat for some work. Although the 50-year-old novelist has collaborated on films with other stars, Chetan recalled that Shah Rukh was the “only” celebrity who “walked out of his house” to see him off to his car. The author went on to praise King Khan, adding that he has good “manners”.
For the unversed, Chetan has written famous novels like ‘Five Point Someone’, ‘2 States’, ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’, and ‘One Night at the Call Center’. ‘3 Idiots’ was based on his novel ‘Five Point Someone’. ‘2 States’ was adapted into a movie of the same name. His other two novels were adapted as ‘Kai Po Che’ and ‘Hello’ respectively.
