Artisanal womenswear brand Akutee has expanded its occasion wear offering for the upcoming wedding and festive season with new clothing line ‘Nostalgia’. The traditional and fusion style line presents hand-painted designs on hand woven textiles.

“Our Nostalgia collection aims to evoke a sense of tranquillity and wonder, transporting the wearer to a realm where the beauty of nature intertwines with the artistry of fashion,” said Akutee’s founder Sagarika Ghatge Khan in a press release. “Each piece celebrates the mesmerising balance between strength and poise, embodying the spirit of the creatures that inspired it while offering a modern interpretation of their timeless allure.”

Peacocks form a central motif for the collection, painted across iridescent sarees in hues of ivory and champagne. Nostalgia also features natural elements such as flowers, butterfly wings, and other species of birds to create a menagerie across its fluid textiles.

The occasion wear line has a colour palette of greens and purples set against natural hues and metallic golds and silvers. Textiles including silk, chiffon, and organza add movement to the line and this is contrasted by more structured garments such as evening style blazers.

Along with expanding Akutee’s evening wear offering, Nostalgia also champions handloom textiles throughout its designs. Sagarika Ghatge Khan’s mother Urmila Ghatge has trained Akutee’s team of artisans to create the collection’s hand-painted motifs which are adorned with subtle beadwork.
