The dark web report has been available to Google One paid users so far
Google One users have been using the feature for a while but now all Google account users can try out this tool.
Google has stated that dark web reports will be available to all account users in July 2024. The service allows the user to monitor the emergence of their data on the dark web, which might be very dangerous. It was previously only available to Google One subscription, but will soon be available to all users. This comes weeks after Google stopped its virtual private network (VPN) by Google One service.
Google Dark Web Report – How Does It Work
Google’s Dark web report notifies users when their personal information has been found in a data breach. When data breach information is made available to Google, the firm searches for information connected with the user’s email address or other information, such as their name, phone number, address, username, password, or social security number.
Furthermore, users can make informed choices on how to protect their data best. Although the dark web reporting service was previously included with the Google One subscription, it will soon become available to all Google account holders.
However, users with Google Workspace or monitored accounts will not have access to the service.
What Is Google One And What It Offers
The Google One app now contains a notification informing users that the dark web report feature will no longer be included with a Google One membership beginning late July. It also has a link to a support document stating that “dark web report will become available to all users with a consumer Google Account.”
As a result of this change, users can now access the reports without downloading the app or logging in. Google says that the dark web reports will be combined with the Results About You page, another one of the company’s services that lets users see whether any of their personal information shows up in search results. They can also ask for their data to be taken down from the internet.
Reports on the dark web are accessible in 46 countries, including the US, UK, Japan, and India. Google’s decision to make dark web data monitoring available to all users comes just weeks after the company stopped another function, continuous scroll search on mobile and desktop. Instead, the internet behemoth has adopted a search-by-page-number approach.
