Strong winds and high temperatures have also made combating the fire more difficult. One such spot is a mountainous region southwest of Nicosia, where a village is under danger due to the scorching of over 3.2 square kilometers (1.2 square miles) of woodland.

Situation
As a wildfire threatened the homes of 49 individuals in two settlements in the western Paphos district of the island last week, they were evacuated to hotels, and aircraft from Greece and Jordan assisted in battling the fire.
