The investigation into the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence on April 14 continues, with recent developments surrounding the death of one of the accused arms suppliers, Anuj Thapan. He was reported to have died by suicide while in police custody, and underwent post-mortem at JJ Hospital in South Mumbai on May 2.
According to a PTI report, an official provided insights into the post-mortem procedure, stating that it was conducted in the presence of forensic doctors and videographed for documentation purposes. The process, which lasted from 4:15 pm to around 5:15 pm, saw the body held in the morgue afterward. However, the conclusions of the autopsy have not yet been disclosed.

Delays in the post-mortem were attributed to legal and police protocol issues. Initially scheduled for 1:30 pm, the procedure was postponed due to incomplete paperwork. Subsequently, the body was moved to the morgue, with doctors requiring a letter from senior police officials before commencing the examination. This led to the delay, with the post-mortem eventually beginning at 4:15 pm.

According to reports, Anuj Thapan’s relatives were expected to arrive in Mumbai late in the evening, traveling by train.

In a significant development, Anuj Thapan’s brother, Abhishek Thapan, alleged foul play by the police, claiming that Anuj was murdered rather than having died by suicide. He expressed disbelief in Anuj’s alleged suicide, emphasizing that his brother was not predisposed to such actions and demanding justice. Abhishek asserted that Anuj was taken into custody by the Mumbai Police from Sangrur six to seven days prior, further fueling suspicions surrounding the circumstances of his death.

In another turn of events, reports were doing rounds that notorious gangster Goldy Brar, who gave threats to Salman Khan in 2023 had been shot dead in the US. However, according to the official statement given by US cops, Goldy Brar is alive, and all the reports were nothing but fake.
