The broadcaster also recorded a staggering 12,380 crore minutes of watch time, indicating a notable 15% growth compared to the 2023 edition. Additionally, the TVR (Television Viewership Rating) witnessed a 17% increase compared to the previous year.
This surge in viewership underscored the unwavering support and love fans have for IPL on TV. In acknowledgment of this fan enthusiasm, Star Sports has announced plans to celebrate fans through a special week, commencing on April 15. This initiative aims to highlight the unique ways each fan engages with their favorite sport and teams, emphasizing the ‘Ajab fandom of IPL.’
Furthermore, the inclusion of Indian Sign Language Feed and AI technology in the TATA IPL 2024 broadcasts has received positive feedback, attracting a wider audience and fostering a more inclusive viewing experience. Shows like “Cheeky Singles,” featuring Carry Minati, have added fresh perspectives and diverse content to IPL coverage, further boosting its appeal.
Disney Star is airing TATA IPL 2024 on 14 channels in 10 languages, including a dedicated feed in Indian Sign Language for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Visually Impaired fans. The marketing campaign for the 17th edition of the tournament, titled “AJAB IPL KE GAJAB RANG,” centers around the insight that a fan’s true colors are revealed through their team’s journey in the tournament, with each IPL moment experienced uniquely by different viewers.
Star Sports this year has also partnered with Tata Play and Airtel Digital TV to offer IPL matches on 4K resolution and enabled Value Added Services.
