WhatsApp text can be customised with bold or italic style
WhatsApp users can customise their texts with these styles before sending it to their friends or family. Here’s a look at how it works
Texting has become way more than just a means to communicate. It is how most individuals in modern times like to stay in touch with people around them. Therefore, a plain, simple message might not be able to communicate what people want to say.
Most texting programmes only allow you to send simple text—nothing fancy. WhatsApp is an exception in that case, as the user has the option to format the text before sending it. You can bold the words of paragraphs that you want to emphasise, or choose italics to make your text stand out, and much more.
How To Format Your WhatsApp Text?
There are two options: utilise your phone’s built-in features to pick bold, strikethrough, or input special characters around the text you want to convert.
If you are using your phone with built-in features, to see a formatting menu on your Android device, tap and hold a word you’ve typed. To pick multiple words, press the buttons on either side of the selection to expand it. Then, select one of the four formatting options: bold, italic, strikethrough, or monospace.
If you don’t see them all, click the three-dotted button on the right, and it will give you the entire list of formatting options. Alternatively, if you are using an IOS, double-tap the text you’ve entered. Then choose BIU and select what you want to do, i.e., bold, italic, strikethrough, or monospace.
On the other hand, if you want to format the text using special characters, here’s what you need to do-
To italicise the text, place an underscore on both sides of the text: _text_To bold the text or a paragraph, place asterisks on both sides of the words you choose: *textTo use the strikethrough feature in your text, use a tilde on both sides of the message: ~text~To monospace your message, place three backticks on both sides: “`text“`You can also put quotes, bullets, and other options on WhatsApp.
To double-up on these in the same text, ensure that you place the special characters for each formatting style in the proper position. One approach to doing this correctly is to mirror the characters on either end. For example-
*_italic and bold_*~*bold and strikethrough*~_~strikethrough and italic~_
