BUCKSPORT — Katie Libby has been selling women’s fashions for years online doing business as Simple Soul Boutique, using her home as a base. But business is growing so she just this summer opened her first storefront at 79 Main St. in the location of the former Local Variety shop.

Shoppers can find all sorts of stylish apparel from denim to jackets to leggings and hoodies. There are accessories, including jewelry, purses and hair ties.

Libby described her shop as “somewhere people can get trendy, unique things.”

“People are just really excited to have something local,” she said. She described her customer demographic as women ages 25 to 55. She stocks her shop with items that are “trendy, modern, simple.”

The Bucksport native got into fashion selling LuLaRoe, a company most well known for its bold leggings.

“Then I just felt there was something more for me,” Libby said. “I went on my own in February. Here we are in August with a storefront. I was growing so fast. The space out of my house couldn’t handle it.”

“I just have a great local following,” she said. “People are just really excited to have something local.”

Denim by Judy Blue has been a fan favorite at Soul since before Libby opened the storefront.

“As soon as you try them on, you fall in love,” Libby said.

“I travel to Atlanta twice a year for the market [trade shows],” she said. “I can be hands-on and touch and feel and see the quality.”

Libby’s business also has an app. Search for Simple Soul Boutique in the app store for IOS or android.

Customers can shop in the app and have items shipped or pick them up in store.

If you’re not an app person, you can shop on Libby’s website, https://www.simplesoulboutique.com/.

Store hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
